At Santana’s reassurance, Brittany calmed. She nodded, even thought she inwardly blamed herself for not screaming. But the words ”If you shout, I’ll kill you,” and the sharp thing she noticed in the guy’s pocket made her too scared to use her voice at the time. 

Brittany noticed Santana’s tears and sighed. ”Don’t cry, San. Please,” She felt a knot in her stomach. Making Santana cry was one of the things she hated. ”You’re my unicorn, San.” She said, placing her head on the girl’s shoulder and chewing her lip. She considered the question. Why hadn’t she told Santana? Even back then, the two were inseparable. She decided she was too scared. ”I was terrified, Santana.” She admitted. ”It was too scary, and..and I didn’t want to believe it had actually happened,” The memories made a shiver run up her spine. The countless nights she’d spent crying in her room, the amount of weight she lost, the numbness , all of it came flooding back to her. ”Well, mom and dad were fighting and my sister was out, so I decided to leave the house for a bit, and I decided I wanted to get you something,” She said. ”But when I went to the mall I saw him, and he saw me, and..” Her breath caught in her throat. ”He chased me, San. He nearly caught me but I got away..and I think he knows where I live.”

Santana brushed her tears away furiously as soon as she realized they were there. “I’m sorry, Britt.” She sniffled. How could she let herself cry when it was Brittany the one who had suffered through it all, and alone? She had to stay strong for her. Santana nodded, letting the other girl know she understood why she hadn’t told anyone, not even her. She had been so young, she didn’t know how she had been able to handle it all on her own but it only made her admire Brittany more. Most people didn’t give her enough credit, they weren’t able to see there was a lot more to her than what they saw. She kept the blonde to her as she listened attentively to what she was explaining, tensing when she mentioned seeing him. “He’s in Lima?” She had to fight the urge to run to do a reckless thing like looking for him. “I think we should go to the police. He can’t be free to run around after what he did.” She said, knowing that they couldn’t deal with this on their own. As much as she hated not being enough, they needed help. “You can stay in my place for a while.” She offered, hating the thought of Brittany being alone while that monster was around.

Quinn’s not a bad friend, she’s just going through some hard times too.
